Geoffrey Piper DL is Chief Executive of the North West Business Leadership Team (NWBLT), an independent group of senior executives from the North West’s major corporates. NWBLT’s members work together to provide a powerful collective voice for the North West’s private sector, helping to promote the long-term interests of England’s North West.
Prior to his appointment to NWBLT in the 1990s, Geoffrey enjoyed a successful career as a Chartered Accountant in London, the Channel Islands and Liverpool, becoming President of the Chartered Accountants in both Jersey and Liverpool. He founded Business Opportunities on Merseyside, one of the UK’s first business-led urban regeneration initiatives, in 1988 and has since been actively involved in numerous economic and urban regeneration initiatives. He has been a board member of the European Institute of Urban Affairs since 1995, chaired the North West Review and Scrutiny Committee from 2003-08, was Deputy Chair of the Greater Merseyside Learning and Skills Council and, from 2006, chaired the North West’s 2012 Olympics Business Forum.
