Harun was raised in East London. After studying for 6 years at an independent faith school in Whitechapel he went on to complete his Theoretical Physics degree at King’s College London. He has worked at the Cabinet Office, BP, Royal Dutch Shell and Google and has developed an interest in start-ups which have an educational and socioeconomic impact– having cofounded Protégé, Rintro and Ratemymodules. Harun has written for the Guardian Comment is Free section on the Trojan Horse inquiry - and remains actively involved in state and faith based education. Harun has served on the Emerging Leaders Advisory Board of UpRising and has served for two consecutive years on the advisory board to her majesty the Queens - Queen’s Young Leaders Programme, co-developed by Comic Relief, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Trust and the Royal Commonwealth Society.
