Simon Allport is based in Manchester and has been Senior Partner for Ernst & Young in the North West since 2008. He joined the professional services industry in 1985 as an analyst straight from University. He qualified as both a Chartered Accountant and an Insolvency Practitioner, working his way through the ranks becoming a Partner in 1996. Simon has spent the majority of his career working in Restructuring, dealing with a wide variety of companies experiencing times of uncertainty and deteriorating performance and growth.
In his current role he is responsible for providing regional leadership for Ernst & Young in the North West market. Simon invests time into the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards which looks to recognise and celebrate entrepreneurs who create many of the world’s most dynamic and successful companies, including emerging entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs.
Simon is also an active member of the North West Business Leadership Team, which is an independent group of influential business leaders who work together to promote the long-term well-being of North West England. He has also recently been appointed to the Board as Chairman of Business Finance Solutions, a Manchester based Government backed Community Development Finance Institution, committed to providing technical and alternative financial support to North West based entrepreneurs.
In his spare time, Simon enjoys coaching junior football and is an avid supporter of his home town team, Huddersfield Town.
