Manchester Fastlaners Spring Programme

Manchester Fastlaners Spring Programme

June 4, 2018

This May, UpRising has been delivering its Fastlaners programme in Birmingham and Manchester.

With employability at its core, the week supports 18-25 year olds currently looking for work to find their dream industry. Manchester’s participants experienced a week of upskilling, networking and insight into new pathways; with motivation to find a career they really want at the heart of the journey.

Based at the incredible Brother UK for the week, the likes of 42nd Street, The Growth Company and Greater Manchester Entrepreneur Centre joined us to cover topics from mental health and motivation in the workplace, to CV support.

When mock interviews and assessment centre arrived, our young people were up for the challenge, taking part in full interviews with Brother UK employees on the area of industry they’re hoping to enter; doing so with passion, knowledge and enthusiasm.

“As someone who’s spent their life in full time education with no previous employment experience, Fastlaners boosted my confidence in finding work, with mock interviews giving me a real feel for the job searching process!” Georgia, 20, Participant.

Finishing the week on a path of motivation and resilience thanks to Saeed from SO Health, our young people are now beginning their journey. With six months support from UpRising and One Million Mentors, we hope to see their professional hopes meet their values and ambitions.

A huge thank you to Brother UK for hosting us, our partners and most importantly the young people who took part in our programme, who we hope to see soar in the near future, as they have done this week.

We are always looking for experts and inspiring individuals to contribute to our Fastlaners programme. If you or your organisation can offer support to young people hoping to find an exciting career, please do get in touch with us. If you’re a young person, keep an eye on our social media channels for the next round of applications in Manchester.
