UpRising are hiring for two Casual Workers to work on our Find Your Power Programme in Peterborough. 

Peterborough Casual Worker

Surviving to Thriving is a partnership between the British Red Cross, the Refugee Council and UpRising funded through players of People’s Postcode Lottery.  The project aims to improve the lives of unaccompanied refugee and asylum seeking children and young people. As part of this project participants can learn about their rights and entitlements with the British Red Cross, take part in therapeutic counselling with the Refugee Council, and explore leadership and social action on UpRising’s Find Your Power Programme.

Find Your Power is a skills development programme for unaccompanied refugee and asylum seeking young people aged between 16 - 25 which runs in Birmingham and the East of England.  Each programme supports 15 young people to explore the issues that affect them and create a short film about these issues alongside a professional film maker.  Previous groups have explored different topics including education, destitution, loneliness and prejudice.

UpRising are looking for two experienced facilitator to assist with delivering sessions as part of Find Your Power in Peterborough during the summer.

Applicants will need excellent communication skills and the ability to support group facilitation. This role will be working directly with unaccompanied refugee and asylum seeking children and young people, a group which requires significant additional support.  Experience of, or an aptitude for, working with vulnerable young people in this field of work is desirable.

The successful applicant will need to undergo a DBS check to work with under 18s, and will need to be able to travel to, or be based in, Peterborough.  Please note that this is a causal role with a set number of hours.  Details below:

Hours of work: 10:00am – 5:00pm

Frequency of work: Dates are in the full job pack

Rate of pay: £10.20 per hour
