What is the Environmental Leadership Programme?

The Environmental Leadership Programme is a free, online programme, designed to equip you with the skills needed to become a green leader and launch your green career. We’ll support you to form a social action campaign about an environmental issue you care about, and during the programme you’ll attend expert-led workshops on topics such as sustainability, energy and climate change, and making political change.

Sessions will run on Wednesday evenings, 6pm - 8pm, from 6th April through to September. There will also be some weekend sessions.

The programme will start on Wednesday 6th April.

How do I join?

Applications for this programme are now closed.

After we have received your application, we’ll be in touch shortly after with the outcome of your application.

How will I be able to make a difference?

During the programme, you’ll work with your peers to form a social action campaign about an environmental issue you care about. You’ll attend expert-led workshops which will provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to create an impactful campaign. You can find out more about successful social action campaigns here.

How will the programme kickstart my green career?

You’ll attend a series of sessions entitled ‘Careers In The Green Economy.’ During these sessions, you’ll hear from green sector professionals who can provide you with industry insights, such as how to break into the sector and their journey so far. You’ll have the opportunity to network with these professionals.

We’ll also be hosting employability support sessions, where you can receive CV, cover letter and interview advice from a professional.

Our alumni have gone onto work in environmental roles in a range of organisations, such as:

  • Analyst at The Carbon Trust
  • Policy Advisor at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)
  • Sustainability Research Analyst at Route2
  • Environment Officer for Natural Resources Wales

What is the application process like?

The form takes between 10 to 15 minutes to complete. We assess each application individually and will be in touch shortly afterwards to let you know the outcome. There is no interview component to this application process.
