Fastlaners was UpRising’s employability offering that ran from 2016 - 2021 supporting over 400 young people.Â
Fastlaners existed to support unemployed or under-employed 18 to 25 year olds develop the tools and confidence needed to secure meaningful employment and kick-start careers. It was our answer to levelling the playing field by giving young people facing significant structural barriers the resources, contacts and know-how to increase their confidence, networks and skills to prepare them for the world of work.
We were so proud of the diversity of the programme, with each cohort engaging a range of participants from a wide variety of backgrounds:
65% of participants identified as culturally diverse with the largest group being Black African; 58% identify as women; 57% of participants were the first in their family to attend university; 61% identified as working class and 20% of those who chose to answer received free school meals; 8% disclosed a disability.
